Dan's Story
I was always an active person as an adolescent, playing all kinds of sports. The two that I spent the most time focusing on were skiing and volleyball. My parents started me skiing when I was only 3 years old and since then I haven't missed a season. I picked up beach volleyball in my teens, and spent most of the warmer months of the year playing on the beaches in New Jersey. In 2004 I decided to take skiing to a professional level and started teaching at Killington Mountain Resort. I continue to work as a certified ski instructor on a private basis. My goal in going back to school to earn my Masters degree was to work with skiers and other snowsports athletes in the mountains of Vermont. I landed in northern Vermont in the fall of 2012 with the intent of building a network of clients interested in getting professional training for their specific goal or sport(s).
Please contact me to discuss how I can help you reach your goals. I have worked with ages 6-60+ and trained clients for many sports and activities including, volleyball, basketball, squash, tennis, endurance sports, and others. While I have a strong focus on athletics, many of my clients are just looking to stay fit and lead a healthy lifestyle. Regardless of your goal, I'll help you get there as long as you're willing to put in the hard work. Please take a look at my training philosophy below to get a better idea how I work with my clients. Training Philosophy
When I think about how to verbalize my training philosophy I consider how I approach each client situation. While every client is different and how they respond to training is different, there are two things that I believe everyone needs - strength and symmetry. There are few people out there (if any) that have both of these components in-check. Whether talking about relative or absolute strength, most of us can use more. Strength is also the key to durability, which is your ability to stay injury free and do what you want to do longer (longevity). Along with strength, it is vital that your body's systems are in-sync. There are very few of us that don't have some type of muscular imbalance, postural issue or joint dysfunction, which are all things that can lead to injury, create improper movement patterns and not allow us to get optimally strong. So the combination of strength and symmetry are what allows us to create that ideal human movement system that is in it for the long haul. I reiterate these ideas below, along with a few other important components:

- I require that your mind is focused on training when you are working with me
- I work hard to formulate and guide your training - you must work hard to get results
- I'm a big believer in "strength is king"
- I have a strong focus in corrective exercise and injury prevention - i.e., creating ideal symmetry
- I don't use any one system or methodology - I have many tools in my toolbox
- I'm a student - always learning from the latest research, events, colleagues, and clients
- I'm a teacher - it's important to me that my clients understand what they are doing and why
